Since so many people travel for the holidays or have otherwise disrupted schedules at the gym, I thought I’d give you a simple workout you can do anywhere. I know you love training with kettlebells, but this one is a body weight workout for the folks who won’t have access to kettlebells.
Make sure you have a repeating interval timer or a clock with a second hand. There’s a plethora of free or low cost smartphone and tablet apps available for interval timers.
This is a top-of-the-minute workout, where you’ll do one set of one exercise at the start of every minute, then rest the balance of the minute. If you have an interval timer, you’ll set it to repeat every 60 seconds, otherwise start when the second hand of your clock strikes twelve.
1. 10 Pushups, rest the remainder of the minute
2. 10 Squats, rest
3. 30 Mountain Climbers (left + right = 1 rep), rest
4. 10 Hollow Leg Levers or 15 Bicycle Abs (left + right = 1), rest
5. 30 Jumping Jacks, rest
Repeat the circuit 4 or 5 times for a total of 20-25 minutes of work.
If you have a kettlebell or two, you can replace the Mountain Climbers and/or the Jumping Jacks with 20 swings or 5L/5R snatches. You can also do your squats with a kettlebell or a dumbbell.
