This one sounds a little strange, and certainly has a funny name, but it passed the husband taste-test. You can use chocolate, vanilla or any flavor of protein powder you like. My favorite protein powder is the vegan protein by Thorne Research.
I’m going to play around with adding some texture in the way of shredded coconut or chopped nuts. But that’s one of the neat things about this recipe, is that you can easily modify it to suit your tastes. It tastes like a treat, but it’s packed with protein and healthy fats. They are easy, no-bake, and great for grab and go convenience. These are a great pre or post workout snack too!
Protein Balls
Yes, I said protein balls!
1/4 cup protein powder (I like chocolate, but you could do any flavor you like)
2 T nut butter (cashew, almond, peanut, etc)
1T raw honey
1/8 cup almond meal or ground flax seeds
1/8 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients together. Add a little water or extra nut milk as needed, so that the “dough” sticks together.
- Roll into balls; as big or as small as you like.
- Optional: roll into shredded coconut, chopped nuts or chopped dried fruit.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
